Art and Science Research Workshop for WISE CDT Students

WISE CDT Students participated in two, one day workshops in November and December 2014, run as part of EPSRC funded art-science research collaboration The Land of the Summer People, co-ordinated by artist Seila Fernández Arconada and Professor Thorsten Wagener, WISE CDT co-director and member of the Water and Environmental Engineering Research group at the University of Bristol.

The project examines the relationship between society and water, and specifically in relation to the effects of flooding in Somerset, United Kingdom.
Students split into groups, allocated a topic and asked to produce a poster.

Topics included:

Historical flooding in Somerset (last 100 years)

Historical flooding in Somerset (last 1000 years)

Recent flooding in Somerset (2013-14)

The future of flooding in the Southwestern UK

Societal response to flooding in Somerset (e.g. buildings).
